Admission
We encourage all prospective residents and their families to visit Plasgwyn and Bodawen to see the comfortable, friendly and warm environment we have created at both homes. We also accommodate day care and respite care which will give you the opportunity to experience our high quality of service first hand and to meet the staff and other residents prior to admission.
Prior to admission, all prospective service users are assessed by our Matrons who, in conjunction with the family, GP and Social Worker, will assess the individual and devise an individual programme of care which will be undertaken once they become resident.
In the event that Bodawen or Plasgwyn are fully occupied it is possible for prospective service users to be placed on a waiting list and contacted once a vacancy occurs.
Service users are admitted to us through four main conduits;

Our residents are with us because they have been assessed as requiring nursing care twenty-four hours a day, or personal care historically referred to as residential care
Once admitted, the resident has four weeks in which to decide that Cariad Care Homes is the nursing home for them.
This first month provides an opportunity for the staff to get to know individual service user and to identify their needs and preferred ways of living i.e. the times at which they want to rise and go to bed. During this period the resident's care and support requirements will be assessed, discussed and developed into an agreed plan.
This process includes discussions on any risks to which the service user and staff might be exposed as a result of making their own choices and decisions. It also includes discussions, with the resident agreement, with any relatives or representatives who may be involved in their care needs and plans.
The main objective is to achieve a care plan that satisfies the requirements of all those involved.
